Virgin Atlantic was the first airline to introduce the Premium Economy and a bar in the Upper Class cabin. Even though Virgin Atlantic offers premium service, sometimes it may happen that your flight is delayed, cancelled or overbooked and you may very well be entitled to compensation. Your passenger rights are protected under the Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 which therefore means that you are able to claim compensation according to the official document put forward by the EU. In most cases, you’ll be able to claim if you’ve arrived at your final destination with a delay of more than 3 hours (2 for cancellations). And, as established by the previously mentioned regulation, you can claim your compensation, in the United Kingdom and Ireland, up to 6 years after the date of the flight.


Conditions that must be met to claim compensation from Virgin Atlantic


  • The route your flight is taking: according the EU regulation, you can claim compensation when a flight is operated by a European airline (like Virgin Atlantic) as well as if the flight takes off from and/or arrives at an airport in an EU member state.
  • The circumstances of your disruption: the regulation specifies that in order to be eligible to claim compensation, the disruption to the flight, whether it was delayed, cancelled or you were denied boarding, must not fall under the category of ‘extraordinary circumstances’.
  • Compensation claim deadline: in the UK as well as Ireland, you are able to claim compensation up to 6 years after your flight disruption. However, this is different for European countries.
  • Total of delay time: in the largest number of cases, you will be able to claim compensation if your delay is greater than 3 hours. If your flight is cancelled the set forth time is 2 hours.

Long delays with Virgin Atlantic: Passenger care and assistance


In case your flight with Virgin Atlantic is delayed, the airline should provide you with care and assistance. This may involve:

  • Meals and refreshments
  • Two occasions in which the airline should provide the means to communication (phone calls, emails, etc)
  • If necessary, Virgin Atlantic must provide you with hotel accommodation and transport involved (travel from and to the airport)


If you do not receive the corresponding assistance and/or care, and therefore you incur in extra expenses, you have the right to be reimbursed. Remember to keep your itemised invoices and receipts. The request for reimbursement may also be attached to your claim for compensation.


How much compensation can I receive for my Virgin Atlantic flight delay, cancellation or overbooking


The EU regulation 261/2004 sets forth, that the total amount you may receive as compensation is defined by the flight’s route, as well as the distance between the airport of departure and arrival. The important factor is the distance between your initial airport of departure and your final arrival airport When determining how much compensation you may receive,.  Connecting flights are taken into account, when your claim is assessed. If the connecting flights are under the same booking reference/ticket, then your entire booking is covered by the regulation.


How much compensation you can claim


  • For all flights covering a distance of up to 1,500 kilometres, you will receive up to £222.00
  • For all flights covering a distance between 1,500 kilometres and 3,500 kilometres, you will receive up to £355.00
  • For flights covering a distance greater than 3,500 kilometres, you are entitled to up to £533.00


Important: if your travelled distance is greater than 3500 kilometres and your flight was delayed by more than 3 but less than 4 hours, then the total amount of compensation is reduced by 50%. The regulation defines the total amounts in euros and they are €250, €400 and €600.

Very good Service for claming Money from Airline companies if you had a Problem like more than 3hrs delay, cancellations without reason. For my case, Airline rejected my Claim via customer Service but after i used this site it took only 4 weeks from Claim to confirmation for compensation. it's very easy to fill out the form to Claim and they answer/help right away. you should try with this even though Airline already refused to pay you with several reason.

Very good service to use for claiming money from the airline companies due to a long delays or cancellations for no reason or no explanation! I had no idea it is even possible, but I filled their forms and did not need to pay a thing for it.
