Footballer forgets his passport and delays flight

In one the newest entries to the long list of bizarre, and sometimes funny, flight delays. Jadon Sancho, a young up and coming footballer playing his trade for German club Borussia Dortmund, has caused a flight delay that affected his whole team.

Sancho probably found himself in a very relatable situation. In the midst of preparing for his trip, he forgot to pack the most important thing! His passport. Several media outlets have reported that he only found out that this very important document was missing once he’d arrived at the airport. The English youngster had to rush back to his house and retrieve it.

Flight delay due to Footballer

Can you claim compensation if your flight has been delayed due to a footballer forgetting his passport?

Even though anyone can forget one’s passport at home before heading to the airport, one particularly unrelatable aspect of this story is that the Borussia Dortmund private flight was able to stay put while the player headed back to his house and grabbed his document. In the meantime, the plane and his teammates waited for him.

Furthermore, the delay only consisted of 30 minutes. So, in theory, such a delay would not give you the right to claim compensation.

When am I entitled to compensation for a flight’s delay then?

If your flight has ever been delayed whilst flying from Germany to the UK, vice-versa, or to and from Europe for that matter; you may be entitled to compensation. In these situations, flying from Dortmund to London, passengers would be entitled to EUR 250. You can find out more about your passenger rights and flight delays with Flight-Delayed.co.uk

Perhaps Sancho’s passport incident was a bad omen, his team lost to Tottenham Hotspur 3-0. Too bad for him!
